Pulse Oximeter LED Wavelengths: Choosing the Infrared Channel

880890900910940850 nm · faint red glow950 nm · invisible to the eye
MANULED offers 12 infrared LED wavelengths between 850 and 950 nanometers. Shorter wavelengths show a faint red glow; longer wavelengths are effectively invisible.

How the two channels work

Oxygenated and deoxygenated blood absorb red and infrared light differently. A sensor measures the ratio between the two channels over each pulse to estimate oxygen saturation.

Tight wavelength and output consistency matter because the ratio depends on both channels. Contact sales for reliability summaries and lot-consistency data during design review.

MANULED components are not medical devices; final compliance depends on your system design.

FAQs

What infrared wavelength do pulse oximeters use?+

Designs commonly use an infrared channel in roughly the 880 to 940 nm range paired with a red channel. Exact choice depends on detector response and optical stack.

Does MANULED make red LEDs for oximeters?+

No. MANULED supplies AlGaAs infrared bare die (850 to 950 nm). The red channel comes from another source.
